On Friday, October 3, 2025, the TECH4MEDICS Lab enthusiastically participated in the 2025 Science Festival, an event organized by the Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge, and Innovation. The lab’s outreach activities culminated in a successful, interactive booth called “Health Detectives,” located at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Chile.
The “Health Detectives” booth was specifically designed for a young audience, welcoming children aged 7 to 12. The main objective was to demystify and simplify a topic of high medical importance: how breast pathologies are detected using mammography images and the support of artificial intelligence (AI).
The laboratory team transformed a complex concept into a fun and educational activity where the young attendees could simulate being real investigators, learning about:
- The capture of medical images (mammograms).
- The visual identification of patterns.
- The role of AI as a tool that helps doctors perform automated and more accurate detection.

The success of the day was led by Dr. Victor CastaƱeda and student Carla Jorquera, who guided the young “detectives” through the concepts, fostering curiosity and an understanding of how cutting-edge technology is directly applied to save lives and improve diagnoses in the future.
With this participation, the TECH4MEDICS Lab reaffirms its commitment to scientific outreach and the formation of a public that values knowledge and innovation in the health field.
