TECH4MEDICS Lab at the Health Fair: Three days of Breast Cancer awareness

The TECH4MEDICS Lab demonstrated its commitment to community health by actively participating in the VII Dra. Eloísa Díaz Health Fair, an event organized by the Student Health Directorate of the University of Chile. Over three consecutive days, October 22, 23, and 24, 2025, the team deployed across different venues to bring vital information to the community.

The lab’s booth, focused on “Breast Cancer Detection,” was highly successful across its three strategic locations: the Faculty of Medicine, the Clinical Hospital of the University of Chile, and the Faculty of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Aimed at the general public, the main objective of this outreach activity was to raise awareness and answer questions about early breast cancer detection. The topic centered on three fundamental pillars:

  • The Importance of Mammography: The team emphasized why this exam is crucial for early diagnosis.
  • The Mammography Procedure: A clear, didactic explanation of how the exam is performed was provided.
  • Common Detected Pathologies: Clear information was offered regarding the conditions that can be identified.

This massive awareness campaign was made possible by the efforts of researcher Denisse Karl and the dedicated team of students, which included Daniela Acevedo, Cristóbal Gutiérrez, Esperanza Tobar, Anaís Acosta, Benjamín Fuentes, and Carla Jorquera.

The team was committed to interacting directly with attendees, distributing informative material, and answering questions with a professional yet accessible approach, strengthening the link between university research and public health.

Through initiatives like this, the TECH4MEDICS Lab underscores its role not only as a center for technological innovation but also as an active participant in health promotion and preventive education.
