Tech4Medics at the XXII Medical Imaging Technology Conference at Clínica Alemana: Presentation by Sebastián Millar and Vicente Cajas

On November 7 and 8, 2025, the Tech4Medics team participated in the XXII Medical Imaging Technology Conference at Clínica Alemana Santiago, one of the most prominent national events in the field of medical imaging. This annual meeting brings together professionals, academics, and students from Chile and across South America, fostering scientific exchange and strengthening the imaging community.

Held at the Aula Magna of Clínica Alemana Santiago, the conference aims to promote the sharing of clinical experience, technological advances, and research developments within the Department of Imaging, generating valuable spaces for communication and interdisciplinary collaboration.

This year, Vicente Cajas and Sebastián Millar, Medical Technology students from the University of Chile, presented their scientific work entitled: “Development of a Deep Learning Algorithm for Estimating Breast Density in T1-Weighted MRI Images.” (link to the poster)

Their research, developed throughout the semester with continuous support from the Tech4Medics team, proposes an innovative computational approach for quantitatively assessing breast density using T1-weighted MRI and state-of-the-art deep learning models. This work is particularly relevant as MRI becomes increasingly crucial in breast imaging and holds the potential to complement current methods for evaluating breast density.

The presentation by Vicente and Sebastián was part of the 8th Scientific Paper Competition of the conference, where they shared the stage with researchers and clinical professionals from diverse institutions nationwide. Their participation reflects not only their dedication and academic excellence but also the growing role of Tech4Medics as a research space that bridges engineering, medical technology, and innovation in image-based clinical support.

We are exceptionally proud of Sebastián and Vicente for representing the University of Chile and Tech4Medics with such professionalism and scientific rigor. We also extend our gratitude to Clínica Alemana for hosting an event that strengthens the imaging community and promotes the dissemination of research aimed at improving clinical diagnosis and patient care.

At Tech4Medics, we remain committed to advancing the integration of technology, science, and healthcare by training future professionals capable of leading the development of next-generation imaging-based clinical systems.
